Giorgia Meloni owns up to the referendum and Italy’s participation in the Board of Peace.

In an interview with Sky TG24, Giorgia Meloni clearly reaffirmed the importance of keeping the referendum campaign on justice within the bounds of substance and institutional respect, welcoming with respect and appreciation the call of the President of the Republic for the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) to remain outside political disputes. According to Meloni, it is essential that the debate focus on content and reforms, rather than on personal attacks or partisan clashes.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the vote on March 22 and 23 concerns a significant reform of the judicial system, aimed at greater efficiency and strengthening citizens’ trust in the rule of law, and not a challenge against the government or democratic institutions. She urged voters to cast their ballots conscientiously, based on the merits of the proposals rather than political opposition.

An important part of the interview was devoted to Italy’s international commitment: Meloni firmly defended the decision to participate in the Board of Peace as an observer, describing it as a strategic opportunity to contribute constructively to global stability, particularly in the most complex areas of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. According to the Prime Minister, Italy’s presence on the Board represents a concrete contribution to building peaceful solutions and fostering multilateral dialogue, consistent with Italy’s role as a bridge between cultures and a responsible actor on the international stage.

Meloni also reiterated that the work toward lasting peace is complex and requires shared commitment, but she expressed confidence in the progress achieved so far and in the Board of Peace’s ability to promote serious and productive dialogue among the parties. She further highlighted Italy’s willingness to support negotiations, including the possibility of hosting them on national territory, thereby strengthening Italy’s role as a leading player in peace diplomacy.

Finally, the Prime Minister conveyed a message of confidence regarding the country’s prospects, citing achievements on the social and economic fronts, and recalled the international success of recent sporting events hosted in Italy as a sign of the Nation’s vitality and organizational capacity on the global stage.
