Energy-tech in power supply for superconducting magnets

Who they are & what they do
Company overview chevron_right
Designs flux pumps — contactless power supplies that energize superconducting magnets without the bulky, energy-hungry current leads used today. Superconducting magnets underpin MRI machines, particle accelerators, aerospace propulsion, high-power electric motors and magnetic-confinement fusion reactors, but existing power supply systems are large, expensive and inefficient; Magnetic Future's technology directly targets that bottleneck.
The team's HTS linear flux pump (developed under the COURAGEOUS project) demonstrated 99.8% efficiency supplying a 40kA superconducting coil for Italy's DTT fusion facility, and was named a finalist for the European Commission's SOFT Innovation Prize 2024. Building on a scientific base of over 60 academic publications and existing patents held by its co-founders, the company is now converting two decades of applied-superconductivity research into a commercial product line.
