While Cristiano Ronaldo is actively investing in artificial intelligence, Lionel Messi is expanding his investments off the football field. The legendary Argentine footballer is building a diversified portfolio that includes real estate, a stake in MLS club Inter Miami, and other business ventures.

In December 2024, Messi officially listed his real estate portfolio on the Spanish digital exchange Portfolio Stock Exchange through his company Edificio Rostower Socimi, turning it into a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) — a type of company that owns and manages properties to generate income. The portfolio is valued at €223 million ($232 million) and includes seven hotels, commercial spaces for shops and offices, and several residential properties. The listing allowed Messi to formalize ownership of these assets and take advantage of favorable tax treatment without offering shares to the general public.

In addition to real estate, Messi’s contract with MLS club Inter Miami includes the option to become a co-owner of the team after his playing career ends. The club is valued at over $1.2 billion, meaning even a small stake of 5–10% could be worth $60–$120 million. Messi’s arrival in Miami has already boosted the club’s revenue more than twofold, reaching around $127 million.

Through these strategic moves, Messi is not only strengthening his position on the pitch but also ensuring long-term financial independence and influence in the business world.
