AC Milan and Inter Milan have officially purchased the iconic San Siro stadium from the Milan city council for €197 million. The deal financed with the help of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan includes both the stadium and the surrounding land, where a new, state-of-the-art complex will be built.

The project, valued at around €1.5 billion, is part of a wider urban redevelopment plan. The new 71,500-seat stadium will be designed by architecture firms Foster + Partners and Manica, with completion targeted for UEFA Euro 2032, which Italy will co-host with Turkey.

Previously, both clubs paid the city €8–9 million per year each to rent the stadium, earning little from match-day and event revenues. Now, all commercial income from ticket sales to non-football events will go directly to the clubs. According to Deloitte, the new ownership structure could boost their annual profits by €30–50 million once the venue opens, while the city will receive a one-off €200 million injection and be freed from maintenance costs of the aging structure.
