Gianmarco Mazzi is going to be the new Minister of Tourism. The current Undersecretary of Culture will take the oath this morning at 10:15 at the Quirinale, where he will replace former minister Daniela Santanchè. With this appointment, Giorgia Meloni ends her interim role and returns to fully exercising her duties as Prime Minister.

But who is the new Minister of Tourism?

Gianmarco Mazzi’s career in entertainment

Gianmarco Mazzi, born in 1960, has built a solid career in Italy’s cultural and entertainment scene, initially distinguishing himself as a music manager and television author. His professional path includes high-profile roles, such as the artistic direction of several editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, particularly those hosted by Paolo Bonolis between 2004 and 2012, as well as the management of the Verona Arena, positions that have confirmed his authority in the field of major events.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the most prominent figures in Italian music, including Mina, Adriano Celentano, Caterina Caselli and Lucio Dalla, developing an artistic journey that began in the 1980s.

Political activity

Alongside his artistic career, Mazzi, a native of Verona, embarked on a political path that led to his election to the Chamber of Deputies in 2022 with Fratelli d’Italia. He later served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture with responsibility for entertainment, before being appointed Minister of Tourism in 2026. However, his involvement in public institutions dates back to 2004, when he worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Communications, contributing his expertise in the media and entertainment sector.
