Regional councillor Elena Chiorino has resigned from the Piedmont regional government led by President Alberto Cirio, completing a step back she had already initiated in recent days by relinquishing her role as vice president. According to Chiorino, a member of Fratelli d’Italia, the decision was taken “out of a sense of responsibility and for the good of the Piedmont Region, the governing majority, and the party.”

The move comes in the context of the Delmastro case, regarding which Chiorino has reiterated that she is not directly involved, stressing that the investigation concerns third parties. ro’s Precisely to prevent political and media debate from affecting administrative work, the councillor chose to step down, while reaffirming the correctness of her conduct and the work carried out over the years in service of public institutions.

President Alberto Cirio expressed appreciation for the decision, describing it as a gesture of “deep fairness” and respect toward institutions. He also highlighted the commitment and results achieved during her tenure, particularly in the areas of training, employment, and work-life balance policies.

The responsibilities have been temporarily taken over by the president himself, with the aim of ensuring administrative continuity and stability in the regional government’s work. Chiorino’s decision is therefore seen, including within the governing majority, as a step intended to protect institutional effectiveness and maintain focus on the region’s priorities.
