Renzi VS Tajani on the Board of Peace: social media clash

Matteo Renzi and his party harshly criticize Tajani and the government’s participation in Trump’s “Board of Peace,” in particular targeting a photo of Tajani holding a MAGA cap that had been given to him by Trump.
The criticism has sparked a back-and-forth between Italia Viva and Forza Italia, with the latter accusing Renzi of inconsistency. They describe the Board as “private” in nature and accuse it of profiteering, despite the fact that Renzi himself has repeatedly taken part in similar initiatives, such as the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s project for the country’s reconstruction.
The former prime minister has also frequently praised Tony Blair, who is now active on the international stage promoting initiatives such as the one concerning Gaza, combining private interests with geopolitics.
Italia Viva criticizes what it calls the government’s alignment with Trump and his America, but the reality is that allowing the rift between Europe and the United States to become irreparable would be a severe blow to our country and to the entire Union.
Finding a balance between supporting Italian and European interests and maintaining the historic bond that ties us to the other side of the Atlantic is what the government is laboriously trying to do, and what Renzi himself would certainly have done as prime minister, regardless of what he now says in his eagerness to justify his full alignment with the broad center-left coalition.
