According to internal Department of Justice sources, the department's Tax Division has been closed and most of its entourage has either left or been cut in an effort to concentrate law enforcement and legal efforts on the deportation of illegal immigrants.

The Internal Revenue Service has also been subjected to several funding and personnel cuts in order to shift the government's focus to objectives more in line with Trump's agenda. The direction of public spending is clearly in line with the administration's political objectives, but could the direction of the cuts also be?

Trump's focus on big tax cuts has been a staple of his rethoric and government action since his primary win in 2015 and is now more evident than ever as he's proposing the abolishment of income tax entirely. The realism of such a plan is of course dubious, but the intention to provide relief to citizens concerned by an high life cost trough tax cuts and exemptions is definitely on the President's mind.

Keeping all this in mind, is it truly unrealistic to think Trump's strategy could involve a laissez-faire approach to tax evasion? I certainly don't think so.
