Billionaire heirs inherit more than ever in 2025, is it a bad thing?

UBS estimates that in 2025 billionaire spouses and children inherited more than ever, an estimate of almost 300 billion. The rich getting richer is something the modern left has been very worried about, launching campaigns and slogans like the infamous "tax the rich" AOC-led movement or the even more radical "eat the rich" internet socialist slogan. The anti_wealth sentiment prevalent in global culture is not, however, shared by everyone.

The recent referendum on a 50% inheritance tax for the rich in Switzerland ended in a devastating loss for the socialist proponents and reaffirmed the country's status as a wealth heaven. Another clear rejection of anti-rich sentiments came from Argentina's midterm elections, that crowned Javier Milei's libertarian "La Libertad Avanza" as the unequivocal majority party in the country. Young Argentinians specifically have been supporting Milei's free market revolution as a radical refusal of the decades of crony peronist rule that preceded it.

These pro-wealth strongholds are not the standard, however, as even in the economic capital of the USA, NYC, socialism has taken root with the election of Zohran Mamdani as mayor. The battle for who's going to give respite to increasingly cosmopolitan billionaires is about much more than cocktails and cars, it's about how the global economy is going to look like in the near future.
