Donald Trump — who had promised a Gaza ceasefire by the end of this week — announced that Israel has accepted the conditions for a 60-day truce. "My representatives had a long and productive meeting today (Tuesday) with the Israelis regarding Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary terms to finalize a 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war," the U.S. President stated on Truth Social.

"Qatari and Egyptian officials, who have worked hard to help bring peace, will present this final proposal to Hamas," he added. "I hope, for the sake of the Middle East, that Hamas accepts this agreement, because the situation will not improve — it will only get worse," Trump concluded.

The announcement follows talks in Washington between Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and senior members of the U.S. administration, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Just hours before the post, Trump had reiterated in remarks to reporters in Florida that he believed Prime Minister Netanyahu was ready to make a deal.

Hamas quickly responded, expressing openness to a ceasefire agreement with Israel — but clarified that any deal must lead to a complete end to the war in Gaza. The statement came from group official Taher al-Nunu.
