Italy vows response on golden power in UniCredit–Banco BPM deal

Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti confirmed that the Treasury (MEF) will issue a response regarding the government’s Golden Power oversight in the UniCredit–Banco BPM deal. He stressed full coordination with the Prime Minister’s office.
“Monitoring is underway, and both banks have submitted their observations. We will respond accordingly,” Giorgetti said. He acknowledged the banks’ legal move, adding, “Everyone goes to court in this country—no one is denied a lawsuit.”
On internal cohesion, Giorgetti stated, “If there were any rift between MEF and the government, I wouldn’t announce a resignation—I’d simply resign
