A summit on Ukraine is currently taking place in Paris, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, who has gathered the so-called "coalition of the willing countries". A total of 31 delegations from 23 countries are participating, including the UK, Norway, Iceland, Belgium, Canada, Turkey, Australia, as well as EU and NATO leaders. The notable absentees will be Beijing – which may intervene soon in a UN mission – along with Malta, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia.

The main topic of discussion will be the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and potential paths toward achieving a lasting and stable peace – especially regarding the issue of security guarantees for the Ukrainian government. Leaders will outline their countries’ contributions to immediate aid, and procedures will also be discussed to ensure effective support for Kyiv.

Other urgent topics at the summit will include achieving an overall ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, as well as a plan for the creation of a "reassurance force" aimed at supporting Ukraine and preventing potential Russian attacks.

Macron stated that Russia should have no say in the support that European countries provide – and will provide – to Ukraine, and he also accused the Kremlin of drawing up an exaggerated list of conditions. Additionally, the French president stated that sanctions will only be lifted once Russia returns to respecting international law.
