On the evening of Tuesday, March 4th, U.S. President Donald Trump delivered the usual State of The Union Address to the American Congress, outlining achievements reached on the first 45 days of his second term and future goals of the GOP administration.

Trump's speech to Congress was the longest in the past 60 years — an hour and forty minutes — surpassing former President Bill Clinton's record. During his speech, Trump defended his political agenda, which in the first weeks of his term was expressed through a large number of executive orders: from cuts in the federal sector via the new DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) led by Elon Musk, to trade policy and handling geopolitical issues, such as the conflict in Ukraine.

Regarding recent tensions between the United States and Ukraine, Trump mentioned that he received a letter from the Ukrainian president on Tuesday. While he did not disclose the contents of the letter, he referred to recent statements from the Ukrainian government, which claims to be ready for a peace agreement and to cooperate with the Trump administration to make it happen. The American tycoon also confirmed his intention to expand U.S. territory to the Panama Canal and Greenland. However, most of the speech focused on domestic policy.

As for recent decisions in trade policy, Trump justified the implementation of new tariffs on imported products from Canada, Mexico, and China, although some large retail chains, such as Target, are already warning consumers: prices are expected to rise sharply, especially for food products imported from Mexico.
