On the evening of Monday, March 3rd, U.S. President Donald Trump decided to suspend military assistances' delivery to Ukraine, blocking billions in crucial shipments in an effort to pressure Ukrainian President Zelensky.
This decision followed a meeting held on March 3rd between President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witfkoff, and Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard.
The move severely impacts ammunition and vehicles' supplies, as well as other types of equipment that had already been approved by the Biden administration. In fact, over the past three years of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, the U.S. Congress has allocated $175 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Just before the announcement, some Republican senators had expressed optimism, hoping for a peace agreement and continued U.S. military assistance to Ukraine. However, as reported by Bloomberg, even the equipment currently in transit will be blocked, including arms located in transit location such as those in Poland.
