He reiterated Russia’s readiness for an equitable and respectful dialogue with the United States, akin to the interactions during Trump’s first presidency. While awaiting concrete proposals from Washington, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Italy will not participate in peace talks regarding Ukraine. Lavrov attributed this decision to Italy's anti-Russia stance and its commitment to arming Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Trump has not hidden his admiration for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. She was the only foreign leader invited to his inauguration ceremony on Monday, January 20. When asked about her by a journalist, Trump responded, “I like her a lot.”
