New York state Judge Juan Merchan had already said that unconditional discharge was the only lawful sentence that would not threaten the President's inauguration scheduled for ten days from now, specifically Monday, Jan. 20.

Trump stated that, as President-elect, he enjoys immunity from all prosecution and sentencing, but defined the trial a “unAmerican witch hunt” and a Dem’s “pathetic loss”. Despite the sentence, conviction will remain on Trump’s record. His lawyers confirmed they are appealing.
