Even Wall Street was quick to react to the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, with a decisive return of optimism in the financial markets. In New York, the main indices are moving sharply higher, supported by the easing of geopolitical tensions that had fueled strong volatility in recent days.
Major indices rise
Trading registered significant gains from the very start. Currently, Dow Jones futures are up 1,276 points (+2.73%), while S&P 500 futures have risen by 183.50 points (+2.76%). An even stronger performance is seen in the Nasdaq, whose futures are up 871 points (+3.57%), driven in particular by the technology sector, traditionally more sensitive to shifts in the global risk environment.
Energy rally comes to a halt
At the same time, energy commodities are cooling after benefiting from the recent escalation in international tensions. Oil has fallen sharply by 18.34%, dropping to 92.24 dollars per barrel, after reaching the 120-dollar mark in previous days during the rally linked to geopolitical uncertainty. Crude oil has also recorded a significant decline: in early Wall Street trading, it opened down 16.71%, settling around 91 dollars. Natural gas is also down, falling by 4.18%, confirming a broader easing of pressure on energy prices.
Metals on the rise
In contrast, precious and industrial metals are trending higher. Gold, the ultimate safe-haven asset, has gained 2.92%, reaching 4,823 dollars per ounce, supported by continued demand for security despite the improving geopolitical backdrop. Silver follows a similar path, rising by 7.19%. Palladium, copper, and platinum are also in positive territory, posting gains ranging from 2% to 10%, supported by both market stabilization and expectations of a recovery in global demand.
Overall, markets appear to welcome the ceasefire—even if temporary—viewing it as a potential turning point toward greater international and financial stability, while still maintaining a degree of caution regarding future geopolitical developments.
