Toyota ends year with stronger December, annual volumes turn higher

Toyota Motor Corp on Thursday reported higher December sales and production, marking a year‑end pickup that helped lift its annual totals for the first time in two years.
The Aichi, Japan-based automotive manufacturer said total worldwide sales in December increased 3.1% to 993,356 vehicles from 963,542 vehicles in the same month the previous year.
Sales in the Japanese market grew 8.8% to 148,721 vehicles from 136,717 vehicles, while sales outside of Japan rose 2.2% to 844,635 vehicles from 826,825 vehicles in December 2024.
These figures bring the annual worldwide sales 4.6% higher to 11.3 million vehicles from 10.8 million vehicles the prior year, its first year-on-year increase in two years.
Worldwide production in December increased 1.2% higher to 881,654 vehicles from 871,271 vehicles previously, bringing the annual production to its first on-year increase in two years, 5.7% higher to 11.2 million vehicles from 10.6 million.
