Honda Motor Co Ltd on Friday unveiled two concept‑stage product lines at the Tokyo Auto Salon in Chiba, Japan, outlining the future direction of its performance‑focused models.
The Tokyo-based automotive company introduced Sport Line for on-road models and Trail Line for off-road, which it said indicated the company's long‑standing "Honda Sports DNA", drawing on technologies developed through decades of racing activity and "the expertise of Honda Racing Corp".
The Sport Line display centred on two HRC-specification concepts that includes a Civic Type R prototype tuned with racing‑derived chassis and performance upgrades, and a Prelude concept fitted with newly developed HRC performance parts aimed at sharpening handling and response.
For the Trail Line, Honda showed the Passport TrailSport Elite as a reference for the off‑road direction it intends to pursue in future production models. The company also unveiled a series of TrailSport HRC concept sport utility vehicles based on the CR‑V, ZR‑V, Vezel and WR‑V, each incorporating off‑road‑focused suspension ideas and exterior cues drawn from Honda's participation in Baja‑style racing.
Honda said the concepts are intended to preview how HRC technologies could be applied across a wider range of its lineup. The automaker added that the Tokyo Auto Salon display illustrates how both lines will evolve into production models that emphasise driver engagement and performance across on‑road and off‑road segments.
