Nvidia Corp is considering increasing production capacity for its H200 artificial intelligence chips, Reuters reported on Friday.
Two "sources briefed on the matter" told Reuters that orders for the chip had exceeded Nvidia's current output level, causing the Californian chipmaker to tell Chinese clients that it was evaluating the prospect of adding to production capacity.
Reuters previously reported on Wednesday that Nvidia is currently only producing the H200 in very limited quantities, focusing instead on "producing its most advanced Blackwell and upcoming Rubin lines".
The outlet stated: "Supply of H200 chips has been a major concern for Chinese clients and they have reached out to Nvidia seeking clarity on this, sources said.
"As part of the briefing provided by Nvidia, the company has also given them guidance on current supply levels, said one of the first two people, without providing a specific number."
Reuters' report, it noted, follows US President Donald Trump's announcement on Tuesday that the government would allow Nvidia to export H200 processors to China and collect a 25% fee on the sales.
