Airbus SE has received a major order from the UAE, German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche said in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The Leiden, Netherlands-based aircraft manufacturer had received an order for 100 A321neo aircraft from the low-cost airline Dubai Aviation Corp, doing business as flydubai, Reiche said on the fringes of the Dubai Air Show, adding she had spoken to the UAE's minister of economy and tourism.
Reiche described it as a huge order that will benefit the Airbus plant in Hamburg.
"This is how we secure jobs in Germany and show what a German company and German technology can do," she said.
The partnership with the Emirates is designed for the long term, she said.
Reiche is on a four-day trip to the region. She will fly to Qatar on Tuesday evening.
