Telecom Italia Spa on Thursday said subsidiary TIM Enterprise will commit EUR1 billion to Italy's "digital transformation" in the next three years.

The Rome-based telecommunications company aims for TIM Enterprise to "consolidate its role as the technological engine and point of reference for the TIM Group".

TIM Enterprises is positioning itself as an end-to-end digital services firm, covering cloud services, edge computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, 5G and 'internet of things'.

In addition, it is targeting an installed capacity of 125 megawatts for its data centre network. Eight of the 17 centres will be "Tier IV or Rating IV certified, representing the highest reliability standards", Telecom Italia said, accounting for half of all data centres in Italy with this certification.

TIM Enterprise plans to upgrade two centres, and establish what it described as an "AI-ready" facility.

Of the EUR1 billion set aside for investment plan between 2025 and 2027, EUR105 million will go towards the edge cloud division, "a key technology that enables low-latency, highly resilient digital services that are in increasingly high demand in the market," according to TIM.

TIM Enterprise invested EUR350 million in growth in 2024, and it has a EUR4 billion backlog, including corporate and public administration contracts, TIM said. TIM Enterprise's revenue totalled EUR3.3 billion in 2024, largely driven by its cloud offering, and has continued to grow in 2025, TIM added.

"We are developing a robust, secure, all-Italian infrastructure that can support ongoing technological transformation, and we are committed to building a truly independent and sustainable European ecosystem," said Elio Schiavo, TIM's chief enterprise & innovative solutions officer.

"This is not just a technological project; it is a strategy to ensure Italy's autonomy, resilience and competitiveness."

TIM Enterprise is part of the National Strategic Hub, a European cloud collaboration whose partners include Leonardo Spa.
