Honda Motor Co Ltd on Thursday announced plans to invest in its Manaus motorcycle plant in Amazonas State, Brazil.

The Tokyo-based automotive company confirmed it will invest around BRL1.6 billion, approximately USD299.7 million, in the plant from 2026 to 2029.

Honda said its decision aims to meet the growing demand in the Brazilian motorcycle market by expanding production line capacity through the introduction of new equipment, optimising processes, and improving internal factory logistics.

The plant, which commenced operations in 1976, produces 19 motorcycle models. The expansion work will create 350 additional jobs and is forecast to increase production capacity to 1.6 million units annually by 2026, up from 1.4 million currently.

Arata Ichinose, president of Moto Honda da Amazonia, said: "This new investment reaffirms Honda's unwavering belief in Brazil, its business partners, and the domestic market. We will continue to place our customers at the center of our business, prioritizing sustained growth, job creation, and meeting the needs and expectations of Brazilian customers as we strive to further strengthen our operations."
