Gold stronger as central banks add tonnes

Spot gold was quoted at USD3,365.43 an ounce on Wednesday, up from USD3,355.75 on Tuesday. Silver edged higher to USD37.84 an ounce from USD37.39.
The yellow metal on Wednesday recovered.
Central banks added a net 22 tonnes of gold to global reserves in June, ING's Patterson and Manthey said, quoting the World Gold Council.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan was the leading buyer with net purchases of 9 tonnes, breaking a four-month selling streak, Patterson and Manthey said.
In the second quarter, central banks added 166 tonnes to global official gold reserves.
In other metals, platinum was priced at USD1,324.05 an ounce on Wednesday, up from USD1,323.19 on Tuesday. But palladium was quoted at USD1,164.94 an ounce, down from USD1,191.96.
The copper price eased to USD9,643.00 per tonne from USD9,687.00. Aluminium fell to USD2,568.00 from USD2,570.00.
