Asian stock markets posted a lackluster performance in today’s session, weighed down by uncertainty over ongoing U.S.–China trade negotiations and concerns surrounding recent U.S. economic data.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell by 0.48%, underperforming regional peers. Conversely, Shenzhen edged up 0.33%, closing at 10,173 points.
Hong Kong gained 0.59%, while Seoul rose 1.3%, supported by tech stocks and post-election optimism. Mumbai hovered slightly above flat (+0.36%), and Sydney closed nearly unchanged at -0.09%.
In currency markets, the euro traded largely flat against major Asian currencies:
