S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures gained 0.3% and 0.5%, respectively, on Thursday, while Dow Jones futures fell by 90 points.
S&P 500, Nasdaq futures rise, tech stocks gain
This followed a strong rally in the previous session, fueled by easing core inflation data that boosted expectations of additional interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve this year. Traders are now focusing on more economic data set to be released today, including retail sales and jobless claims. In premarket trading, technology stocks such as Nvidia (+1.4%) and Super Micro Computer (+2.6%) rose following a positive outlook from chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.
Bank of America rises, UnitedHealth falls ahead of earnings
The earnings season continued, with Bank of America gaining over 1% in premarket trading after exceeding earnings and revenue expectations. On the other hand, UnitedHealth saw a nearly 3% decline after reporting revenue below expectations. Morgan Stanley is also scheduled to report today.
