Nissan Motor reported lower global production and sales figures for October and the year-to-date on Thursday, although exports from Japan increased last month.

Meanwhile, Toyota Motor also saw its third consecutive month of declining global production in October.
Yokohama-based Nissan announced that production in Japan fell 3.8% year-on-year to 64,516 vehicles in October, and declined 7.4% to 545,105 units from January to October, compared to 588,646 vehicles during the same period last year. Passenger vehicle production in October dropped by 7.9% to 56,761 units, while commercial vehicle production increased by 43% to 7,755 units in October. However, production of commercial vehicles for the first nine months of 2024 decreased 18% to 49,813 units, down from 60,504 vehicles in the previous year.
Outside Japan, Nissan's production fell 7.0% to 2.1 million units from January to October. Global production decreased 6.3% to 290,848 units in October, and 7.1% to 2.7 million units for the nine-month period.
Sales numbers
In Japan, sales excluding minivehicles rose 2.6% to 22,360 units in October but declined by 1.8% year-to-date to 243,738 units. Commercial vehicle sales grew by 10% to 3,849 units in October, but fell 13% to 33,245 units for the January-October period. When including minivehicles, total sales in Japan decreased by 1.0% to 35,584 units in October, and by 0.5% to 405,774 units year-to-date.
Sales outside Japan fell 3.0% to 235,965 units in October, but rose slightly by 0.2% to 2.4 million units from January to October. Global sales in October dropped by 2.7% to 271,549 units but edged up by 0.1% for the nine months to 2.8 million vehicles.
Exports from Japan increased by 12% to 40,502 units in October, but declined 5.0% year-to-date to 321,360 units.
Worldwide sales increased
Aichi-based Toyota reported worldwide sales of 974,245 units in October, an increase of 0.4% year-on-year, marking its first sales increase in three months.
Sales in Japan rose 1.8% to 194,297 units in October, while sales outside Japan edged up by 0.1% to 779,948 units.
Toyota also reported a 1.3% decline in global production, with October output falling to 1.0 million units, continuing the trend of three consecutive months of reduced production. In Japan, production rose by 5.6% to 392,818 units, while production outside Japan dropped 5.2% to 628,981 units.
