Hitachi quarterly earnings fall but hikes dividend

Hitachi Ltd reported a decline in both revenue and net income in its latest quarter. The Tokyo-based conglomerate announced an interim dividend of 21 yen per share for the fiscal year ending March 31, up 31% from 16 yen per share last year.

Attributable net income fell 16% to 116.9 billion yen (about $765 million) for the second quarter ended September 30, down from 139.0 billion yen a year earlier, while revenue decreased 11% to 2.335 trillion yen (about $15.27 billion) from 2.638 trillion yen. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, and amortization (EBITA) declined 5.4% to 224.5 billion yen.

2025 expectations

For fiscal 2025, Hitachi maintained its forecast for net profit of 600 billion yen and adjusted EBITA of 1.035 trillion yen. Earnings per share are expected to rise to 130 yen from 129 yen. Hitachi also raised its full-year revenue forecast to 9.150 trillion yen, up from 9.000 trillion yen, though still about 6% below the 9.729 trillion yen reported in fiscal 2024.
