Nokia joins with Lenovo to develop AI data centre solutions

The Espoo, Finland-based telecommunications company will work with Beijing-based Lenovo to design combined solutions addressing the "demanding processing and network performance requirements of modern workloads.". The two businesses aim to facilitate the vast and specific "compute, storage and transit" requirements for a mix of compute-intensive workloads, including both AI and machine learning, through combining Lenovo's existing ThinkSystem AI-ready portfolio with Nokia's data centre network solution and newly announced Event-Driven Automation platform. The resulting offerings are to be marketed to a mix of "enterprises, telcos, and digital infrastructure and cloud providers." The partnership will create a cutting-edge and robust platform capable of meeting the "needs of telecommunications and enterprise sectors", according to Lenovo Vice President Edge and Communications Service Provider, Charles Ferland, who added that he expects the collaboration to both "generate cost savings" and "open new revenue streams for providers".
