As reported by the ECB, regarding the Eurosystem's weekly financial statement billion, in the week ending 27 September, PSPP purchases and redemptions were zero.
ECB total assets fall by €30 billion weekly
Purchases in the corporate sector were zero, with redemptions of EUR500.0 million.
However, in the PEPP program alone, the ECB purchased—reinvested—a total of €1.9 billion, with the total at €1,640.3 billion, while redemptions were €1.5 billion.
The Governing Council intends to continue reinvesting the principal repayments on maturing securities under the PEPP during the first half of 2024. In the second half of the year, it intends to reduce the portfolio of this instrument by an average of €7.5 billion per month. As planned, the end of reinvestments will occur at the end of 2024.
The Eurosystem's net position in foreign currency assets increased by €800 million to €328.8 billion.
Under "Gold and gold receivables," total gold remained almost stable at €757.5 billion.
Total euro-denominated securities issued by euro-area residents amounted to €4,633.3 billion, down by around €1.3 billion from the previous week.
Securities for monetary policy purposes decreased by €458 million to around €4,407.7 billion.
Total Eurotower assets amounted to €6,398 billion, down by €30.0 billion from the previous week.
