In July 2024, net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities, and banking flows resulted in a net TIC inflow of $79.2 billion, down from $159.1 billion the previous month.

Of this, foreign private inflows totaled $79.7 billion, while foreign official entities saw a slight outflow of $0.6 billion. In August, foreign residents boosted their holdings of long-term U.S. securities, with net purchases reaching $129.8 billion.
Private foreign investments figures
Private foreign investors contributed $158.1 billion in net purchases, while foreign official institutions recorded net sales of $28.3 billion. U.S. residents, meanwhile, increased their holdings of long-term foreign securities with $18.4 billion in net purchases.
