Vodafone Group' sale of its Italian operations to Swisscom was approved by an Italian regulator on Wednesday.

Swisscom, the telecommunications company based in Bern, Switzerland, confirmed that the Italian Authority for Communications had given the green light to the deal. “This approval marks another key step toward securing the necessary regulatory approvals to finalize the transaction,” Swisscom said.

An €8 billion deal

The €8 billion deal to acquire Vodafone Italia was first announced in March and received approval from the European Commission in September. However, two regulatory hurdles remain, including approval from the Italian Competition Authority in Rome.
