Walt Disney Co on Monday said it appointed James Gorman as new chair, and the firm expects to announce a new chief executive "in early 2026"

Disney names James Gorman as new CEO

The Burbank, California-based entertainment company said Gorman will succeed Mark Parker on January 2. Parker had served on the board of Disney for nine years. Gorman is currently executive chair at Morgan Stanley, a role from which he is stepping down at the end of the year. Further, he is the chair of Disney's board's succession planning committee, which is working to identify the next chief executive officer.

Iger will leave in 2026

The contract of current Disney CEO Robert Iger ends at the end of 2026.
