German inflation confirmed at 1.8% in December, 2.0% harmonised

German consumer price inflation cooled in December, data published by the Federal Statistical Office confirmed on Friday.


The annual consumer price index inflation rate decelerated to 1.8% in December from 2.3% in November.


Consumer prices did not change in December from November, after a decline of 0.2% in November from October.


On a harmonised basis, allowing for EU-wide comparison, annual inflation slowed to 2.0% in December from 2.6% in November.


On a monthly basis, harmonised prices rose 0.2% in December, following a 0.5% fall in November.


For the full year 2025, Germany's annual inflation rate was 2.2%, the same as in 2024.


The harmonised annual inflation rate was 2.3% in 2025, slowing from 2.5% in 2024.


All December and 2025 figures were in line with provisional data released last week.
