Germany's unemployment rate came down a notch in November, data published by the Federal Employment Agency showed Friday.

The country's unemployment rate stood at 6.1% in November, down from 6.2% in October.

The seasonally-adjusted rate remained unchanged at 6.3%.

Federal Employment Agency Chair Andrea Nahles said: "The economic downturn continues and the labour market remains sluggish. Unemployment and underemployment declined in November, as is typical for the season. The number of people in employment is stagnating and demand for labour remains subdued."

While the number of unemployed people in Germany fell by 26,000 monthly in November to 2.885 million, it was 111,000 higher than a year ago.
