Italy’s Competition Authority has fined Wizz Air Hungary Ltd €500,000 for unfair commercial practices related to its annual “Wizz All You Can Fly” subscription, which was deemed misleading and included abusive contract clauses.

The Antitrust Authority found that Wizz Air marketed the subscription as an unlimited service while omitting clear information on key limitations, including booking windows for flights, the number and type of seats available to subscribers, and other operational restrictions.

Additionally, some contractual clauses allowed the airline to modify terms or suspend the service without justified reasons, restricting customers’ rights to withdraw or receive prorated refunds, creating a significant imbalance between the rights and obligations of subscribers.

The €500,000 fine highlights the authority’s commitment to protecting consumers from misleading commercial practices and ensuring transparency in airline promotional offers.
