French trade deficit widens more than anticipated in September

France's trade deficit increased more than expected in September, data published by the Directorate-General of Customs & Indirect Taxes showed Friday.


The country's trade deficit widened by 27% to EUR6.58 billion in September from EUR5.19 billion in August. The FXStreet-cited consensus had pencilled in a milder increase to EUR5.9 billion.


Exports grew 0.1% on-month to EUR51.92 billion in September from EUR51.87 billion, while imports rose 2.5% to EUR58.50 billion from EUR57.06 billion.
