Spain unemployment edges up to 10.5%; producer prices down on month

Spain's unemployment rate increased slightly in the third quarter, data published by the National Statistics Institute showed Friday.
The country's unemployment rate was 10.5% in the third quarter, up from 10.3% in the second quarter. The FXStreet-cited consensus had expected the rate to notch down to 10.2% in the third quarter.
The number of unemployed people increased to 2.61 million in the third quarter from 2.55 million in the second quarter.
Separately, INE reported that annual producer price index inflation was 0.3% in September, compared to deflation of 1.6% in August, which was revised down from deflation of 1.5%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices in Spain declined by 0.4% in September, slowed from a decline of 0.6% in August, the latter revised from deflation of 0.4%.
