Industrial production in Japan continued to weaken in August, revised figures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry showed on Wednesday.

Industrial production fell 1.6% year-on-year in August, accelerating from a 0.4% decline in July.

Meanwhile, industrial production declined 1.5% month-on-month in August, worsening from a 1.2% fall in July and exceeding the 1.2% drop that was expected based on the FXStreet-cited consensus forecast.

Preliminary figures issued in late September suggested a 1.3% decline year-on-year and 1.2% drop month-on-month.
