German public debt increases by 1.2% on-quarter in second quarter

Germany's public debt increased a notch in the second quarter, data published by the Federal Statistical Office showed Wednesday.
The country's public debt increased by 1.2% on-quarter in the second quarter, or by EUR30.6 billion, to EUR2.554 trillion. The total public budget includes budgets of the federal government, states, municipalities and municipal associations, social security funds and all extra-budgetary funds.
The federal government's debt increased by EUR30.9 billion, 1.8%, in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the debt of the federal states edged down by EUR5.7 billion, or 0.9%, to EUR609.8 billion.
