France budget deficit narrows in August from a year before

France's budget deficit in August was wider than in July but narrowed from a year before, data published by the Ministry of Economics, Finance & Industrial & Digital Sovereignty showed on Thursday.

The budget deficit widened by to EUR157.45 billion in August from EUR142.04 billion in July. However, this was down from EUR171.91 billion in August 2024.

As at August 31, general budget expenditure excluding reimbursements and state tax relief stood at EUR300.4 billion, down 1.2% from EUR304.1 billion a year prior.
