UK Inflation Surprises to the Upside in June 2025


UK inflation came in hotter than expected in June 2025, according to the latest monthly report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).



Consumer prices rose by 0.3% month-on-month, up from +0.2% in May and ahead of the +0.2% forecast by analysts.



On an annual basis, inflation accelerated to 3.6%, exceeding both the 3.4% expected and the 3.4% recorded in May.



The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile components such as food and energy, increased by 0.4% month-on-month, doubling the +0.2% gain in May and beating expectations of another +0.2% rise.



Year-over-year, core inflation stood at 3.7%, above both the 3.5% consensus estimate and the previous month’s figure.
