A new strike has hit Italy’s railway sector, with FS Group employees walking off the job from 9 PM on July 7 until 6 PM on Tuesday, July 8. The strike was called by Cub Trasporti and USB unions in protest against the national contract renewal, which they have refused to sign—unlike major unions such as Filt-Cgil, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Fast-Confsal, and Orsa Ferrovie.

Significant delays were reported early Monday at Rome’s Termini Station, affecting both Trenitalia and Italo trains, with delays ranging from 10 to 120 minutes.

Minimum services are guaranteed during protected time slots: from 6 to 9 AM and from 6 to 9 PM. Trenord has warned of disruptions on all routes and stated that only guaranteed trains will operate on Tuesday, July 8. For connections to Malpensa Airport, substitute buses will be available if the Malpensa Express is canceled, running non-stop between terminals.

Trenitalia reminded passengers that the list of guaranteed trains is available on its official timetable and website. Travelers can request a refund before the scheduled departure or rebook their journey under the same conditions, subject to seat availability.
