Germany’s industrial production dropped more than expected in April 2025, falling by 1.4% month-on-month, according to Destatis. This follows a revised 2.3% gain in March and comes in well below analysts’ forecast of a 0.9% decline.
On a yearly basis, output fell by 2.2%, deepening from March’s -0.85%. Excluding energy and construction, production declined by 1.9% in the month. Energy output alone dropped 1.6%.
The figures highlight persistent weakness in Germany’s industrial sector, which continues to struggle amid broader economic uncertainties.
