Germany’s industrial orders rose by 0.6% in April 2025, surprising analysts who had forecast a 1.5% decline. The data, released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), follows a revised 3.4% increase in March (originally reported as +3.6%).
On a year-over-year basis, new orders were up 4.8%, accelerating from the 3.7% annual gain recorded in the previous month.
Breaking down the figures: Domestic orders rose 2.2%, offsetting a 0.3% decline in foreign orders; Within foreign markets, orders from the euro area grew by 0.5%, while those from non-euro countries fell by 0.9%.
The data suggests continued resilience in domestic demand, even as international momentum shows some signs of slowing.
