Germany's industrial production rose by 1.5% month-over-month in November 2024, rebounding from an upwardly revised 0.4% decline in October and surpassing market expectations of a 0.5% increase.

The growth was broad-based, with notable gains across several sectors. Energy production saw a significant rise of 5.6%, while construction grew by 2.1%. The manufacturing of aircraft, ships, trains, and military vehicles surged by 11.4%, reflecting strong performance in industrial machinery. Additionally, production of capital, consumer, and intermediate goods rose by 1.4%, 0.9%, and 0.5%, respectively. Energy-intensive industries also saw an increase, with production growing by 1.5%.

Despite these positive monthly gains, on a less volatile three-month-on-three-month basis, production declined by 1.1% in September-November 2024 compared to the previous three months. On a year-over-year basis, industrial production fell by 2.8%, extending the 4.2% drop observed in October, indicating ongoing challenges in the sector.
