The index remains well below the long-term average of 100, reflecting persistent pessimism among households. Expectations for personal financial situations deteriorated further (-14 vs. -13 in November), alongside a sharper decline in views on the standard of living (-57 vs. -53).
Concerns over employment prospects intensified significantly, with the employment-related worry index rising to 53 from 43. Additionally, more households expressed concerns about accelerating inflation over the next year (-35 vs. -40).
Savings sentiment edges up amid worries
However, consumer sentiment was slightly improved regarding their future savings capacity, with that measure ticking up to 12 from 11. These trends highlight a mixed but broadly negative outlook among French consumers as economic uncertainties continue to weigh on confidence.
