The HCOB Eurozone Manufacturing PMI fell slightly to 45.1 in December 2024, down from 45.2 in November and below the anticipated 45.3 after a downward revision from the flash estimate.

This marks the steepest decline in manufacturing activity in three months, continuing a two-year contraction. New orders declined, prompting factories to reduce output faster since last year despite easing work backlogs. Weak demand led to workforce reductions, particularly in Germany and France, alongside a sharp drop in purchasing activity.

Output costs fall again as manufacturer confidence slightly improves

Output costs decreased for the fourth consecutive month. Manufacturers' confidence in future activity remained subdued but showed slight improvement from the previous month.
