German Industrial Orders: Smaller-Than-Expected Decline in October
In October 2024, industrial orders in Germany showed a smaller-than-expected decline. According to data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), orders fell 1.5% month-on-month, a less severe drop than the 2% analysts had forecasted.

Positive Revision for September
The October result follows a 4.2% increase in September, which was revised upwards from an initial estimate of a 5.8% drop.

Year-on-Year Growth
Despite the monthly contraction, industrial orders were up 5.7% compared to the same month last year, signaling some resilience in the longer term.

Sector Breakdown
Looking deeper into the figures, domestic orders fell 5.3%, while foreign orders rose 0.8%. However, the foreign demand was mixed: orders from the Eurozone dropped 7.6%, while orders from non-EU countries increased by 6.3%.

The performance of industrial orders in Germany in October reflects a complex dynamic, with weak domestic demand but positive trends in foreign markets, offering some hope for a partial recovery in the country's manufacturing sector.
