EU car registrations rebound in October

This was the first increase in passenger car registrations in three months, with positive results seen in two of the region’s four largest markets. Spain led with a robust 7.2% growth, while Germany rebounded with a 6.0% increase after three consecutive months of declines. However, both France and Italy saw declines, with registrations falling by 11.1% and 9.1%, respectively. For battery electric vehicles (BEVs), registrations rose by 2.4% to 124,907 units, maintaining a market share of 14.4%.

Ten months figures

Over the first ten months of 2024, total car registrations increased by 0.7% year-on-year to 8.9 million units. However, the market share for new battery-electric cars fell to 13.2%, down from 14% the previous year, largely due to a 26.6% drop in Germany.
